Feeding the 5k/5k is not just another fundraiser… So why are we doing this, and why now?
If you are tuned into our monthly newsletter or blog, you have probably noticed the phrase ‘increasing need’ or ‘increasing demand’. These phrases are not marketing lingo or words to move you to give something or give something more. This is simply the state that we find ourselves in with our field partners in DR Congo, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia and the growing number children coming to us for aid.

Our policy is to not turn away those in need, and we defer to our field partners for setting these parameters at our various care sites. The need is increasing based on multiple factors, with the COVID situation being a part of the pressure that is driving more children to seek out assistance.
The Feeding the 5k/5k event is an opportunity for us all to deploy to help children, and in the process we can engage 1,000’s that have not been exposed to the plight of orphaned children nor are they aware of the impact we are having around the world.
Based on the velocity at which needs in the field are increasing, we need to engage new funding partners that will choose to serve children through Global Orphan Relief. Our field costs will be 2x what they were in 2020, and without additional partners, we will have to suspend some partnerships potentially within the next 3 months.
The Feeding the 5k/5k will be foundational to what 2021 will look like to 1,000’s of children around the world. I hope that you will choose to be involved and make a difference for a precious child.
Through the Feeding the 5k/5k you can advocate for orphaned children, encourage others to do the same, introduce others to the movement, and assist in gathering the provisions needed for 2021. We currently have nine participants registered, and based on the size of our movement our objective is a minimum of 100. Please consider doing a 5k, ask others to join you, and those that can’t can support you in your efforts to feed 5,000 children.
