James Bol Akook is a 15-year-old boy who attends Adoor Primary School in South Sudan.

As I sit down to write to you today, I’ve been reflecting on what a year it’s been—and, while challenging, there’s also all the good that’s been happening, thanks to many of you.

Many of you have been such great supporters of vulnerable children that I wanted to let you know the difference you’ve made. Just this year, your generosity made it possible for vulnerable children around the world to belong to a loving family all their own in one of our supported homes, attend school which had been previously out of reach based on a lack of resources, and thousands more children have received life-sustaining food through meals at school.

This is an impressive record of achievement. Well done!

Today I would especially like you to meet James Bol Akook.

James was born into an extremely poor family that could not provide daily meals.  He is from the village of Adoor and lives with his four siblings, and there wasn't enough food to go around.  James was blessed to attend Adoor Primary School where he was admitted to our Nutrition Initiative based on his dire circumstances.

Over 3,000 vulnerable children just like James, at three different village schools in South Sudan, were provided aid this past year in the form of food and medicine.  For many, this aid was lifesaving as the area was decimated by flood waters that produced near-famine conditions.

Your investment in vulnerable children is an investment in boys and girls like James Bol Akook.

Thanks to the generosity of many, children like James are thriving in hard places like South Sudan, attending school regularly, hearing the Gospel, and having hope for the future for the first time.

Thank you for joining us on this journey to Feeding 5,000!
