GO! Board Retreat

GO! Board Retreat Held this Past Weekend

by Scott Nordstrom

This past Saturday we held an all-day meeting in which we strategized, laughed, prayed, deliberated budget priorities, and encouraged one another in this work that has been underway now for more than 16 years.  It really was a productive time to discuss what has been accomplished, consider current challenges, and what we hope that God invites into moving forward.

One of the several items that came up was improving the way in which we get communication out to partners of the movement.  As we have grown there are so many competing messages, needs, and news from the field making it difficult to property package all of this information for quick consumption.

We believe that our Home-based Care Initiative will see the biggest area of growth in 2022.

For example, this month we will serve 2,121 children, in three initiatives, in five different countries, with twelve different partners, that involves 25+ field locations where we along with our partners serve orphaned children.  This is a daunting, time-consuming task, that we are tasked with improving in the New Year.

We also deliberated the budget for 2022 and the difference between faith and presumption.  This is a good question though I don’t believe that we answered it.  I do believe that God is inviting us into to new areas of ministry for next year that are not yet resourced.  In fact, as it stands right now, we will most likely experience a deficit this year making decisions for next year extra difficult.  There are also many needs in the field that didn’t make it in on the list for consideration in 2022.

Frankly, there are many unknowns for the New Year, just as many (or more) than years past.  As with many budgets there will be tough choices to make, and even more faith required to move forward.  While I always want to bless more children, I am confident that God will use us as He sees fit.  We will just continue to step forward and I will ask Him “Send me (us) Lord!”

We want to thank all of you for involving yourself in this movement of faith.  Whether it is your time or resources, please know that we are diligently working to deploy your resources both effectively and efficiently to the glory of God in an effort to serve His precious children.

Stay tuned…
