 AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN

Beneficiaries from South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State -at Adoor Village School have overwhelmingly applauded the great impact to their lives following over five-year support from American Charity Organization-Global Orphan Relief (GO!) which has contributed positively to change of lives for benefiting orphans and children without parental cares.

As this school is one of the three schools receiving nutrition supports for over five years now, children here are thankful for the turnaround of their lives. They say, apart from nutritious feeding, biblical scholarship, counselling, basic education and basic health supports from other diseases, children testified that their expectations went as far as shaping their personal lives through hearing about God and through prayers.

Among the testifiers, James Bol Akook, a 15-year-old boy says, his life has momentously improved following his stay in this school and that he is grateful to be part of such wonderful school with huge support from American faithful ones who contributed their money to support them in South Sudan from such horrible and life-threatening environment.

Akook, who attends school in Adoor has become a bright student after he left his village’s hard life and became part of this school due to his parental status.

He was born to poor parents who couldn't afford daily meals for him and his other four siblings. He says, since his mother famished with hunger due to lack of income in their family, he thought his hopes were dwindled; but luckily, he is now happy and enjoying life at his school.

Akook says, “that God has things turned-around in his life which he hopes to last a life time.”

He is grateful for the opportunity and wishes to wisely use the opportunity to help others when he gets learned. He is looking forward for scholarships opportunity so as to become priest in the future to help spread the goodness of the living for GOD through Gospel preaching.

Like many other beneficiaries, he says the feeding under school meals program has given him a huge life impact and that he is now blessed to be part of this GO! Sponsored school.

We have served in South Sudan since 2016, and have provided an estimated 455,840 meals impacting 3,162 vulnerable children in South Sudan in 2021. The scale of this initiative has grown by over 4 times since our launch in 2016, and this growth is driven by the near-famine conditions and other socio-economic challenges in this country.

In cooperation with multiple partners, Kids for the Kingdom & Christ Mission to the World, we have invested in these three school sites with additional infrastructure over the last 12-months by investing $126,200 for clean water, kitchens, storerooms, and latrines. We are thankful for these partners that make this work possible. Working together more children receive meals with larger portions, and the Kingdom of God continues to advance in South Sudan!

We also serve 102 orphaned children in South Sudan through our home-based care initiative. Aid is distribution is facilitated by Christ Mission to the World via their Lighthouse Orphanage location in Aweil.
