Royal Part 2

Hello Everyone,

It has been a great week.  Royal is doing great.  He is really responding to therapy.  He can stand up and sit down on his own.  He needs help with balance once he gets to standing position but I am so encouraged by his progress.  The children are doing really well in preschool.  Linda came out this week and yelled to one of the kids to bring a salt container and all the three year olds starting repeating what she was saying.

They don’t know what they are saying but at least they are trying.  I went for a walk this week and there is a large rock formation that is just the perfect place to watch the sunset, in fact one of my pictures I have attached is from there very spot.  I was headed out to the rock for a little quite time and prayer.  I was feeling a little homesick and a little lonely.  About 5 minutes of me being there here come five little boys from my preschool class.  They climb up on the rock and all of them came an surrounded me.  Little William comes and lays his head in my lap, the other boys Olik, Justine, Friday and Bright sat down next to me.  Two of them grabbed my hands and held them and the other two just touched my arm and we set there together.  It was as if they knew I was have a hard time in that moment.  It was so sweet it almost makes me cry just writing about it.

I started Bible Study with the house Moms this week.  It is going pretty well although I am not so sure how much of it they are catching since it is all in English.  However they seem to enjoy the fellowship time.  I decided to bring tea and some nuts I had brought from America to share.  I have cashews and almonds.  Well all of the cashews were gone within seconds and the almonds were still there at the end.  So I asked them if they did not like the almonds.  They said they would be better fried.  It made me laugh and I of course said everything is better fried.  So I was reminded of the roasted almonds with the toffee from the fairs back home so I decided to try my own version.  I know you all are thinking oh no she started the kitchen on fire haha.  Actually they turned out pretty good.  I boiled the almonds in butter, water, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, then drained them and coated them with some brown sugar.  Not quite the same but they were pretty good.  So I brought them to the house Moms and they said with a smile on their faces much better.

I continue to be blessed just being with the children every day, I know it is going to be so hard when it comes time to leave.  So I am enjoying every minute I can with them.

The youth mission team comes this week, so I am excited for some help with preschool, it is hard keeping little people’s attention J.
Oh by the way I did not have to take public transport as Linda decided to come out to the village.  So again very blessed to not have to take that adventure yet, but I am sure it is a matter of time.
I have heard about all of the fires in Colorado and my heart goes out to everyone.  I have definitely been saying prayers for everyone and for rain.  I am so sad for the Denver Police Officer that was killed in the line of duty.  Please be safe out there.  Remember life is short, be thankful everyday for what you have and the people in your life.  I am so thankful for each of you and love you all very much.

Many blessings, Janelle
