The Day school is the only school in the Lilanda School Zone -- one that consists of 57 government and private schools -- that provides free education, school supplies, uniforms, and food to orphaned children. It is a staple in its community, which is why we are happy to report that God has blessed us, with the help of our friends and family at Congregation 268 in Idaho, to finally purchase a school for our Day School children!

For 17 years, we were only able to rent one dilapidated building after another, struggling with exorbitant rental prices and crumbling schools. Now, we have our very own school, one for our 166 students to grow and thrive in.

While the building is in less than perfect condition, we have already begun repairs, having also recently drilled a new water well at the location.

Besides being the only school in its zone to offer free education, the Day School is also a leader in academics. The school has proudly reported a 100% pass rate in the annual Zambian government examinations, and has introduced its first-ever eighth grade class.

As the school does not receive any help from the Zambian government, they depend on provisions from faith based organizations, like Global Orphan Relief, to nourish the minds and bodies of their students. They thank all the wonderful sponsors who have brought hope, life and the gospel to these sweet little people.

Global Orphan Relief provided the initial funding to begin this project in 2018. Our plan was to start and to fund a classroom with a team that we deployed to Zambia that year. The classroom was for a secondary school that would be overseen by Zambia Messianic Fellowship (ZMF). Based on our visit and meeting with the ZMF board these funds were redirected for purposes of purchasing a property for the Jerome Fleischer Day School. This property is large enough to host the secondary school in the coming years with classrooms still needing to be built.

Global Orphan Relief also supports twenty orphaned children, within our scholarship initiative, to attend the Jerome Fleischer Day School where nearly 200 children now attend. Today, 409 students attend school in DR Congo, Kenya, and Zambia, based on our Scholarship Initiative. 36 sponsors at $30 per month will allow us to continue providing this critical element of care for over 400 students in 2021. Education last a life time and is critically important for breaking the cycle of poverty.
