549 Hungry Children join us at Adoor, Beliek, & Lueth-wek

We received notice earlier this week from Christ Mission to the World that another 549 orphan children came to our partnership schools for food over the last 60-days. This is a 20% increase in children, and along with increasing prices and a weakening US$ in South Sudan, this is a formula for less than desired results for these children. The children enrolled in the Nutrition Initiative is as follows:

We continue to work toward engaging additional partners in the effort to feed so many children. In addition, we remain committed to focusing our resources to serve the orphan child, and with the many vulnerable children that we serve in South Sudan, our current situation is in conflict with this objective.

Based on the needs in South Sudan, this Initiative has become one of our biggest projects, and just the food now requires over $11,000 monthly. Please pray for these children.

In the first five months of 2021 we have experienced a dramatic increase in the number of children coming to our partner schools to receive meals. In the first five months of this year we have provided an estimated 261,300 meals impacting 2,613 children. The scale of this initiative has grown by more than 206% when compared to 2020 when we served just an estimated 85,160 meals to 852 vulnerable children.

Education in South Sudan is facing enormous challenges with the lack of qualified teachers, and little funding to effectively operate local schools. Most schools lack basic requirements like classrooms, toilets, food, and clean drinking water.

Plans for 2021 is to provide nutrition to more vulnerable children in the Aweil area. Just in the last 30-days another 549 children have come to receive meals. In cooperation with multiple partners (Kids for the Kingdom & Christ Mission to the World), we have invested in these school sites with additional infrastructure over the last 6-months by investing $109,200 during this time for kitchens, storerooms, and latrines.

Today we serve these precious children with our partner Christ Mission to the World who are the hands and feet on the ground, and through this partnership we will serve an estimated 63,240 meals to 3,162 vulnerable children at three village schools in the Aweil area this month.
