As there was an influx of new arrivals to the center last week due to skyrocketing prices which resulted to looming hunger crises in the state, the caregivers of 20 children at Light House center have raised concerns to the Church members to fundraise some money for adding additional bedding and additional space to be able help the children cope with ease.

Despite these influx, caretakers of Lighthouse Orphanage Centre express their gratitude to Global Orphanage Relief organization for continuously supporting the center with all required basic needs to the orphans and other disadvantaged children. At least 7 mats or double beds are required to meet this gap.

They say the assistance is making a very good impact on malnourished children since they received the feeding program from GO!.

Appeals were made to the church members on Sunday about the needs for additional space and sleeping mats or mattresses. The call was positively received by the members and promised to address the issue of sleeping materials to the increased number as they say it is a top priority. As they were previously accommodated in the church when they were only 7, the house was later hired for the accommodating them as number increased but seems necessary to have extra spacious capacity to accommodate them all as number keeps on increasing unpredictably.

Global Orphan Relief has provided limited support for these children since August 2020, however, their needs surpass funding available. Support for what is now 33 children within our home-based care initiative in South Sudan exceeded $2,300 a month. With no ongoing funding for their support securing monthly sponsors will be paramount to continue this work. There are approximately fifty more children currently living on the streets of Aweil.

Today we also currently feed 2,613 vulnerable children in South Sudan. You may send support or other correspondence to Global Orphan Relief, 16352 Prairie Farm Cir, Parker, CO 80134 or you may give electronically to support the home-based care at 2021 Home-based Care or our nutrition initiative to feed vulnerable children at 2021 Nutrition Initiative.
