AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN

As hunger season approaches, the societal community concepts for their livelihoods in South Sudan is at its critical peaks with most households left to feed on trees leaves and wild fruits.

Such hunger threats forcefully impose panic in the community as their survival means become threatened as terrible hunger gap looms between June to August every year.

But fortunately, the host communities where GO! sponsored schools are located have less worries as their children depend on the school meals provided by Global Orphan Relief in partnership with the Christ Mission to the World.

In Beliek, as the number of children seeking food has rapidly increased for the last three months, it is the GO! sponsorship that is the only hope for sustainability.

Every child getting support in this project is happy to be part of the programme and their chances of overcoming the hunger gap are high with morale.

The school children of Beliek School in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, South Sudan, who are blessed to be part of this wonderful project say their dreams for overcoming hunger threats in their country are in the hands of Good Samaritans from America and that their prayers are always focused on God to double the earnings of these generous people.

Children scramble everyday as they queue up to get their food at school.

In South Sudan, education is facing enormous challenges with the lack of qualified teachers, and little funding to effectively operate local schools. Most schools lack basic requirements like school buildings, toilets, food, and clean drinking water. Even with sub-standard education available to some, attendance is not guaranteed for these children.

Plans for 2021 is to provide nutrition to more vulnerable children in the Aweil area, increasing the number of children served by 54% over 2020. In addition, we will begin to further develop these school sites with infrastructure in cooperation with multiple partners.

Today we currently feed 2,646 vulnerable children in South Sudan, and with our partner Christ Mission to the World, we will serve an estimated 52,920 meals at three village schools in the Aweil area this month.

You may send support or other correspondence to Global Orphan Relief, 16352 Prairie Farm Cir, Parker, CO 80134 or you may give also give electronically to support the feeding of vulnerable children at 2021 South Sudan Nutrition.
