Meeting Alex | DR Congo | Dream School

GO! | DR Congo | Dream School

March 2, 2021 – Meeting Alex

We visited this area of DR Congo in September of 2009.  Shortly after this visit we asked our partners in-country, Noah Ministries, to survey the local community for orphans in need.  We also wanted to know how we could potentially help these children if there were actual needs.  What we found was 100’s of orphaned children unable to attend school!

Alex is 13 years of age and is in the 7th grade. He is from Jolicite in the DR Congo. Alex’s father deserted the family, leaving for Kolwezi, and he later died of a heart attack. His Mother is still living.

Alex’s favorite activity is football (soccer) and his favorite subject is math. He wants to grow-up to be bus driver.

Alex enjoys his study of the bible and is active in church. His favorite bible character is Matthew. Alex is blessed to be in school based on support from Global Orphan Relief.

-----------------------

We have been serving in DR Congo since January 2015 when we started supporting 160 orphaned children with their education at the Dream School.  We continue this work today at the same school, in Likasi, DR Congo, and have grown to serve 171 orphaned children in 2019.

The Dream School includes grades 1 through 6 and includes biblical instruction too.  The results of our efforts are that 100’s of children have been able to progress through school through the 6th grade who would have otherwise been left behind.  School is not provided at no costs in the DR Congo, and these orphaned children, living with extended family, would not have been afforded the opportunity for even a 6th grade education without the Global Orphan Relief supporters.
