AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN

Following an endorsement from GO! Board to extend their support to do a tangible and more durable work for the children in dire crises in South Sudan, Beliek Primary School became one of the three centers which have been blessed to have a new structure. This structure was provided by another GO! partner Kids for the Kingdom, and this building will be used used as a storage for school's foodstuffs and kitchen for preparing the school's meals.

With partners Christ Mission to the World and Kids for the Kingdom this new kitchen and storage facility for the Beliek Primary School is taking shape!

Upon erection of this wonderful building, children and host community gathered to celebrate this achievement.

As part of GO! initiative to build storeroom at each sponsored schools, Beliek is the third site to be blessed with a 2-storeroom building this year. Upon these blessings, Beliek's benefiting school children, teachers and community whose children hugely depend on this school, can't hold back their gratitude. They also came and gathered around their school to watch the remaining work cheerfully.

The paramount chief of greater Paliet, Mr. Ayom Wek says their dreams have materialized and that they're grateful to the people of America for always being there for the people of South Sudan.

Head teacher, Majok Mark says the building will be used to provide a solution for storage, kitchenette, shelter, shade and teaching room for high levels classes.

"This building will help us from outstanding issues, such as storage for our school's foodstuffs, shade during hot season like this, kitchen for our school's meals, shelter during rainy day and many other unforeseen circumstances." Mark explained.

The children of Beliek School in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, South Sudan, equally express their gratitude for the support and assistance they get from Global Orphan Relief organization.

The school was once an open area where children were taking their classes under trees which always made it difficult during rainy season or whenever there was wind or hot sun, but the 2-storeroom building is believed to have mitigated some of the risks encountering education in this area.

In South Sudan, education is facing enormous challenges with the lack of qualified teachers, and little funding to effectively operate local schools. Most schools lack basic requirements like school buildings, toilets, food, and clean drinking water. Even with sub-standard education available to some, attendance is not guaranteed for these children.

Plans for 2021 is to provide nutrition to more vulnerable children in the Aweil area, increasing the number of children served by 54% over 2020. In addition, we will begin to further develop these school sites with infrastructure in cooperation with multiple partners.

Today we currently feed 2,646 vulnerable children in South Sudan, and with our partner Christ Mission to the World, we will serve an estimated 52,920 meals at three village schools in the Aweil area this month.

You may send support or other correspondence to Global Orphan Relief, 16352 Prairie Farm Cir, Parker, CO 80134 or you may give also give electronically to support the feeding of vulnerable children at 2021 South Sudan Nutrition.
