Schools Have Reduced Cases of Sickness
GO! Supported Schools Have Reduced Cases of Sickness Registration Following Frequent Drug Supplies to the affected centers
By Thiik-awet,
AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN,
So far so good, the leadership of the three GO! supported schools have jointly confirmed that the cases of Malaria, Pneumonia and Diarrhea outbreaks which were of highest levels at two of the schools have normalized following tireless efforts asserted from Global Orphan Relief (GO!) and its local-based implementing Partner -Christ Mission to the World.
Following the recent flood outbreak in most parts of South Sudan, several health issues had been reported to have emerged everywhere in South Sudan and especially at the schools. With prominence on areas where Global Orphan Relief and Christ Mission to the World are rendering humanitarian assistance in South Sudan, there were huge cases being registered daily as the waterborne diseases hit these schools.

Though the cases have been alarming since July to October, this week’s assessment has confirmed that the cases have minimized and that everything has returned to normalcy for the last two weeks so far.
It has been fearsome situation where most locations have suffered setbacks of registered health concerns especially in Aweil East. With support from GO! and Christ Mission to the World, the two have been supplying most needed basic drug supplies to curve and alleviate worsening health conditions of affected populations especially school pupils.
At Adoor Village School, the report gathered between July and September, 400 cases were registered with waterborne diseases which faced a tough intervention from the two charity organizations (GO! &
CMW) to respond and save lives.
Though the mobility has been extremely difficult due to flooded roads, youth and some energetic school children had to volunteer themselves for shouldering weekly transportation of such drugs being supplied from Aweil Town which is 63km away the schools following medical supplies cut off from delivered by vehicle or motorcycle. Since July, there has been a weekly supply of basic drugs to each school which helped to quell increment of cases. Most centers’ basic medical supplies were, Anti-malarial drugs, diarrheal drugs, deworming drugs and many more which prevented worsening cases among children suffering from these waterborne diseases.
Speaking on behalf of school committee, Philip Piol, a headmaster of Lueth-wek says they’re grateful for reduction of waterborne disease cases and that their appreciation and gratitude to the beloved donors for standing firm in solidarity with the people from South Sudan during such critical times.

We have served in South Sudan since 2016, and have provided an estimated 455,840 meals impacting 3,162 vulnerable children in South Sudan in 2021. The scale of this initiative has grown by over 4 times since our launch in 2016, and this growth is driven by the near-famine conditions and other socio-economic challenges in this country.
In cooperation with multiple partners, Kids for the Kingdom & Christ Mission to the World, we have invested in these three school sites with additional infrastructure over the last 12-months by investing $126,200 for clean water, kitchens, storerooms, and latrines. We are thankful for these partners that make this work possible. Working together more children receive meals with larger portions, and the Kingdom of God continues to advance in South Sudan!
Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care.
