GO! | Happy Birthday Faith
May 4, 2020 –by Scott Nordstrom
Today is a bit of a strange day in that it is Faith’s fifteenth birthday. Or would it have been her fifteenth birthday….? No matter, to me, it is just Faith’s birthday. We have at the very least recognized this day as such -every year since she was born in 2005. I do think of her often, but even more so on this day.
Fifteen years is a long time. So much has transpired since her birth; three children are now grown, some friends and loved ones are no longer with us, Deb and I are in slightly different stages of life, and there is now this movement called Global Orphan Relief (GO!).
Yes, the other things that have changed over time matter, but what draws me in the most is GO!. This is a God-sized, supernatural, Kingdom building, eternity-changing movement that so many others are now involved in. While this is a big deal, it is even bigger than we can comprehend. By this act of love, we are changing the world. Think about it; fifteen years of changing the world, making it a different place that it was before.
As I walked this morning, I wondered how things might have been different if Faith was physically with us today. Did her passing force me to act on my own or was it something the Father used to simply draw me in? How would God have used her to do the same without allowing her to pass away?
As I stopped and pondered these questions the sound of the birds was overwhelming. There was no coordinated effort on their part, but somehow these various sounds combined to create a symphony of sound. It really was beautiful, but quite chaotic. The Father is using us in His symphony, and specifically GO! for fifteen years now. We are not always on time nor in the right key, but we fit perfectly into His plan that creates something beautiful in the Kingdom.
I am thankful for an incredible fifteen years that provided an opportunity for the Father to use GO! in the beautiful music that He is making in this world. All in an effort to bless the orphaned child.
Global Orphan Relief has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provide oversight and distribution of care.
Today we serve 1,301 children in DR Congo, Kenya, South Sudan, and Zambia with our Home-based Care, Nutrition, and Scholarship Initiatives.
