Luuwo Scheduled for Surgery
Global Orphan Relief Update – Luuwo In Zambia
Luuwo is one of our Foster Care kids, but we still keep in touch and help when extended family can’t. She came to see us when Mike and Linda arrived back from the states saying she had pain in her left eye. We could see her cataract had now grown completely over her lens. She started having this eye trouble at the age of 17. We got her an appointment at Zimba Eye Clinic the very next week and they booked her for an appointment with the team of American Doctors for this morning. Luuwo requested that her housemother Mama Rita go with her. Our mom’s will always be their moms! So special for children who have no parents.
Luuwo and Rita were picked-up after church on Sunday and taken to Zimba, Mama Rita has relatives in Zimba so they have a place to stay. Monday mornings are crazy with hundreds of people lining up to see the Doctors. Sometimes on Sunday afternoons the Doctors will check in people for surgery first thing Monday morning so no time is wasted for the team. The Lord blessed us and Luuwo was seen and is ready for surgery for Monday morning. She has inflammation behind her eye. The steroid drops given to treat the inflammation can cause cataracts. The Doctor said she has this behind both eyes, but it’s calm now and he feels it is a good time to remove the left cataract.
Please pray for our Luuwo she is now 21 and a beautiful young lady who loves the Lord and sings like an angel. We are praying the surgery will go well and healing will take place. Please also pray the inflammation will be healed behind both eyes and no blindness will come. This is a side effect of her HIV.
She will be in Zimba until at least Wednesday afternoon and then will need to be seen again next week and then maybe every other week until they can see what is happening behind her eyes. Thank you for you prayers!
Blessings from Zambia, Linda Jones
