The Orphan Care Home is a modest structure in Punjab, Pakistan. The 25 children that live there are split between two rooms. This is a very modest facility, but offers comfort and safety for many. There is a very small but hard working team on the ground in Pakistan made up of Pakistani nationals. With your support, we hope to build a separate school in the future.
As you might imagine, facility expansion and community involvement is something that is approached delicately in this part of the world. However, it is the mission of Global Orphan Relief to have grass-roots involvement in the communities in which we serve orphans. GO! has the vision to spread God’s love through the care and feeding of the “least of these” and be involved in their communities to better life for all around the globe.
UNICEF estimates that as of 2009, there were approximately 4.2 million orphans in Pakistan. However, the statistics don’t really tell the whole story. According to the 2009 Human Development Report of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), 60.3% of Pakistanis live on less than $2 a day. When a child in Pakistan loses their father, the likelihood of already being in or sinking into that 60.3% is significant. This is why so many of the children at the B.M.S. Orphan Home are unable to get consistent food and shelter and rely on us (you) for their basic necessities.
